Melissa Brabender is an associate at Asonye & Associates. She handles employment matters including age discrimination, disability discrimination, sex discrimination, sexual harassment, race discrimination, racial harassment and retaliation. She represents clients in state and federal court, as well as in administrative proceedings. Melissa also handles immigration matters including family and employment-based immigration applications.
Melissa earned her Juris Doctor, magna cum laude and Order of the Coif, from DePaul University College of Law. During law school, she clerked for a litigation firm and edited a law review article as a research assistant. Before law school, Melissa attended the Ohio State University Fisher College of Business on a full academic scholarship. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting and graduated with honors.
Melissa has a wide variety of litigation experience including contract disputes, product liability, ERISA issues, warranty claims, publicity rights, real estate covenants, medical malpractice and employment discrimination claims. She has participated in all stages of litigation in state and federal court, including motion practice, written discovery and trial. On a pro bono basis, she has appeared on behalf of clients in probate court.
Melissa is a member of the Illinois Bar. She is a member of the American Bar Association, the Illinois State Bar Association and the Chicago Bar Association.

Scott obtained his Juris Doctorate from IIT, Chicago-Kent College of Law. After his term at Chicago-Kent College, Scott was recognized for his hard work when he received his degree with high honors and was inducted into the Order of Coif. During law school, Scott served as a senior member to the Chicago-Kent Law Review and as a judicial extern in the First District of Illinois Appellate Court. He completed his Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

In June 2008, Amanda Finney received her B.A. in English Language and Literature from the University of Chicago. As an undergrad, she was also the recipient of the Miriam Enid James Memorial Scholarship. In addition to her strong traditional liberal arts background, she has valuable experience in communications.
Amanda last worked as the Web Editor for Fearless Radio, a Chicago based online radio station. As the Web Editor, she took on several duties such as updating content for the website, editing articles, and composing electronic newsletters. Prior to Fearless Radio, Amanda also participated in Chicago’s Metro Shadow/ Traffic summer internship which focused on onsite news reporting.
Amanda joined the staff in April of 2009 as the new legal assistant. In her spare time she enjoys reading, sketching, and photography.

Renae graduated from Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in 2005, where she double majored in French and Political Science and minored in Chinese. During college, she studied abroad in both Paris, France and Wuhan, China. She is fluent in French and has basic proficiency in Mandarin.
Renae is currently entering her second year at Loyola University Chicago School of Law, where she is a recipient of an Honor’s at Entrance scholarship and has been on the dean’s list. Before law school, Renae gained three years experience as an immigration paralegal.
In her free time, Renae enjoys reading and scrapbooking.

Jason received his BBA in both Finance and Management from the University of Iowa at Iowa City in May 2007. While attending the University of Iowa, Jason was a member of the Dean’s Student Advisory Committee where he provided outreach and recommendations to both alumni and state officials on educational curriculum. Upon graduation from the University of Iowa, Jason co-authored the inaugural operations manual for Long Lines Wireless, a wireless company based in Sergeant Bluff, IA.

 Gail received her Bachelor of Science in Commerce from DePaul University. Her Major was Accountancy, with a Minor in Computer Information Systems. Gail has several years of experience as a Manager and Consultant for such companies as Price Waterhouse, and Computer Language Research/Research Institute of America.
